Taking classes with other teachers ...
is a great idea. On the condition of course that these 'other teachers' are good teachers ;-) ... This summer is a great occasion to get to know teachers like Gaëtan Collaert or Aldona Niemiro.
You'll probably know Gaëtan from his work as a performer or as our bachata and tango teacher but he's also a great salsa teacher from whom you'll learn a lot of technique, expression, styling ... He will teach many of the salsa classes (level 2 to 4) and of the 'special workshops'.
Aldona will teach the level 1 salsa classes and the ladies' styling sessions on Wednesdays. No doubt you will learn a lot and have fun on top ;-).

Caroline Menya added to the line-up of Salsa in Toscana 1 (24-31st of July)!

Summer program starts!
From next Thursday 1st of July our 'summer program' starts: there'll be classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. All classes will take place in Sportoase:
- 'Hoegaardenzaal', first floor, on Mondays
- 'Polyvalente zaal', underground, on Wednesdays and Thursdays
Program in short:
- Salsa classes level 1 on Wednesday 8.30pm
- Salsa classes level 2 to 4 on Monday and Thursday 6.45 or 9.15pm
- 'Special workshops' on Monday and Thursday 8pm
- Ladies' styling classes on Wednesday 7.30pm

Special workshops - July
A new initiative this summer are the so called 'special workshops'. Every Monday and Thursday 8-9.15pm there'll be a class with a clear focus on a theme.
In July there'll be classes focusing on:
- Musicality (1/7): Let's get to know the music we are dancing on better! Rhythm, artists, connection with the music ...
- Spinning technique (5&29/7): turns left, right, single, double, spotting, posture etc.
- Initiations chacha and merengue (12/7) and tango (22/7).
- Bachata open level (19/7) and intermediate level (8/7).
- Salsa 'combination boost' (15/7): in this class we'll see as many combinations as possible! Bring on your camera ;-).
- Salsa shines (26/7): solo class. Enjoy dancing on your own on this great music.

Which level to choose in summer?
In the 'summer program' the five levels we use normally for salsa classes ('beginners 1' up to 'advanced') are squeezed into four levels (level 1-4). There'll be classes for 'level 2' on Mondays 9.15pm, classes for 'level 2&3' together on Thursdays 6.45pm, classes for 'level 3' on Mondays 6.45pm and for 'level 4' on Thursdays 9.15pm.
'Level 1': absolute beginners.
'Level 2': if you had up to 6 months of classes. If you have finished one or two series of ten classes (beginners 1 or beginners 2), this is your level! We'll work a lot on the fundamentals.
'Level 3': if you had up to a year of classes. If you are at an 'intermediate' level this is your level. Lots of combinations and styling. Double turns, triple turns, complex leading.
'Level 4': if you want to be challenged, this is your level. Double and triple turns should not be a problem (followers), leading is precise and fast (leaders).
But these are only general indications, not absolute dogma's ;-). So don't hesitate to try the different levels out, you'll meet new people ;-).

LeuvenSalsa! students show team
For ten weeks a group of ten students have been working on a show coached and choreographed by Gaëtan Collaert. Come and encourage them at their première on the 10th of July at the outdoor party on Martelarenplein!

Pay for one class, attend many classes a week
When the balance men-women is not perfect in a class, you can attend that class for free as an 'extra leader' if we need leaders, as an 'extra follower' if we need followers. One simple condition: you need to pay one class a week if you want to be an 'extra leader' or follower!
