NEWSLETTER Festival Edition

On Saturday 28th of November we'll have the sixth edition of the Leuven Salsa Festival. A festival that was created some years ago to give a new input to the salsa scene in Leuven 'and surroundings' ... The two first edtions were called 'Leuven Salsa Day' to then become 'Leuven Salsa Festival'. In this newsletter we'll present the instructors of the workshops, the performers, the dj's, place to be, hours, prices, etc. I hope to see many of you at the festival at the workshops and at the party.

Carl

Sami - workshops

Considered by many Belgian salseros as one of our greatest dancers, he's more particularly known for his inventivity in dancing, his precise teaching and the difficulty he experiences to be serious for a couple of seconds in a row ...

Great natural style, great technique ... Sami isn't currently teaching anymore but for the festival he'll teach two workshops, one on musicality (relationship dance-music; open level), one on partnerwork LA style (advanced level). The ones who have had the chance to attend his workshops will advice you to be there ...

Wim El Guapo & Barbara - workshops & show

Wim & Barbara are well known Belgian performers and instructors, constantly present on international congresses and events. Seeing Wim and Barbara teach is seeing professionals at work. They are teaching Cuban salsa (partnerwork and rueda) in Gent and are very often presenting shows on congresses all over the world. Wim & Barbara are currently holding the record of spins in 90 seconds: 182 spins ...

At the festival Wim & Barbara will present a Cuban style workshop (for 'switchers': salseros without much experience in Cuban style) and a rueda de casino to open up the party. At midnight they'll try to break their world record spins in 90 seconds ...

Sat 12.05-13.05 (Polyvalente zaal) and 21-22 (Jupilerzaal). Record spins at midnight.

Maria Szumielewicz - workshops

After having learned the basics in her home country and developed her skills at international congresses, Maria started teaching in Poland before moving to Belgium some time ago. She performed and taught together with Talal before joining the LeuvenSalsa! dance school. Maria combines talent, passion and experience: a great combination for a dance instructor. Appreciated for her styling, she's also very much into mambo and into Afro-Cuban elements. Don't miss her 'Intro to rumba' workshop, her 'Ladies' styling' class as well as the LA style partnerwork we'll be giving together.

Sat 11-12 & 16.35-17.35 (Polyvalente zaal) and 13.20-14.20 (Jupilerzaal).
